Default Preview: Admirals vs. Marlies

Quote:
About the Admirals: The Admirals hit the road for three games after a satisfying 4-2 victory over first-place Chicago on Saturday at the Bradley Center. The AHL announced Tuesday that Admirals defensemen Sheldon Brookbank and Ville Koistinen had been selected to play in the AHL All-Star Classic, Jan. 28 and 29 at the Ricoh Coliseum in Toronto. Brookbank, the Admirals' captain, is second among AHL defensemen in scoring and third on the Admirals with 25 points (seven goals and 18 assists). Koistinen, a native of Oulu, Finland, has 17 points (five goals and 12 assists) in his first season in the AHL.

About the Marlies: The Admirals won the only previous meeting between the two teams, 4-3, on Dec. 3 in Toronto. The Marlies are led in scoring by Erik Westrum, who has 40 points (14 goals and 16 assists).

Default Better late than never for Segal

Quote:
It doesn't really qualify as "jet lag" but the Milwaukee Admirals' three-games-in-three-states-in-three-nights schedule caught up to them Sunday afternoon at the Bradley Center.

Fortunately for the Admirals, their opponent, the Toronto Marlies, had an equally terrifying tale of travel to share. The Admirals won this battle of attrition, 1-0, on Brandon Segal's power-play goal midway through the third period.

Sorry, took a while to get back over here.

Nice effort by the Ads on Sunday. Glad we managed to make Segal's goal stand up.

They looked bad in the 1st period. Had trouble getting the puck out of the zone and seemed a little sluggish on defense. They had a few more chances than their one shot would indicate.

I'm not complaining though, a win's a win.

Default Preview: Admirals vs. Americans

Quote:
About the Admirals: Rich Peverley, who leads the team in goals (17), assists (28), points (45) and plus / minus (+12) is gone. He signed a two-year contract with the Nashville Predators earlier this week. The Admirals have won four of their last five games to climb into a tie for third place in the West Division of the Western Conference with the Peoria Rivermen. On the plus side, Scottie Upshall has rejoined the team on a rehabilitation assignment from the Predators. Also, Pekka Rinne, the team's goalie during last year's playoff drive, is expected to be in uniform for the weekend games.

About the Americans: The Americans, who lead the North Division, are led by Clarke MacArthur, who is seventh in the AHL in scoring with 49 points. In the teams' only previous meeting this season, the Admirals prevailed, 4-3, in overtime, Nov. 22, in Rochester.
