Rookie defenseman Mikko Lehtonen has been sent down to Milwaukee after just coming back from a concussion...

It remains to be seen how long his conditioning assignment will last.

Under the weather: Predators Coach Barry Trotz had considered reinserting defenseman Mikko Lehtonen into the lineup against the Blackhawks and sitting Greg Zanon.

But Lehtonen has been sick in recent days and is only now starting to regain his health.

Lehtonen hasn't been in the Predators lineup since suffering a concussion on Nov. 16.

Legwand sits out: Predators center David Legwand sat out of the Anaheim (Dec.6) game with a hand injury suffered Monday in Phoenix. Trotz said Legwand would be questionable for tonight’s game (Dec.7) against Los Angeles, but probable for Saturday (Dec.9) at San Jose.

Defenseman Marek Zidlicky, who has been suffering from flu-like symptoms, did play against the Ducks. The Predators had already been without center Jason Arnott, who's recovering from knee surgery.

Legwand misses his second straight game last night with the hand injury and Sullivan only plays part of the 1st period (after injuring his groin).

.... dropping like flies ....

Sullivan latest to join injury list

One after another, the Predators' key players are falling victim to injury.

Left wing Steve Sullivan joined the list in Thursday's 4-1 win over Los Angeles, as he suffered a strained groin in the first period and didn't return to the contest. Predators Coach Barry Trotz said he didn't believe the injury was too serious, but called Sullivan doubtful for Saturday's game against San Jose.

The Predators plan to recall forward Pat Leahy for the game against the Sharks. In 23 games for Milwaukee of the American Hockey League, Leahy has posted 10 points (six goals, four assists), 18 penalty minutes and a minus nine rating.

Nashville played Thursday's game without goalie Tomas Vokoun (thumb), center Jason Arnott (knee), center David Legwand (hand) and right wing Scottie Upshall (groin).

In addition, back-up goalie Michael Leighton is suffering from the flu.

Trotz had hoped Legwand would be ready for Saturday's game, but now said Legwand has only an outside chance of returning for that contest.

Legwand skates: Predators center David Legwand took part in Saturday's morning skate, but didn't participate in the contest against the Sharks. He's suffering from what the Predators are now calling an arm injury, although the team's game notes still refer to it as a hand injury.

He hopes to be playing again in the coming week.

Vokoun on the ice this morning

Predators goaltender Tomas Vokoun is on the ice in full gear (minus his stick) this morning at the Gaylord Entertaintainment Center. Vokoun, who had surgery to repair a hand injury on Nov. 27, is joining Predators goaltending prospect Pekka Rinne (shoulder) and team goaltending coach Mitch Korn for rehab workouts. Nashville head coach Barry Trotz said on Monday that Vokoun would resume skating this week, but initially pinpointed Wednesday or Thursday as a target date. Both goaltenders will be concentrating on conditioning and footwork before working up to handling pucks at a later date.

Legwand expected back tonight for Preds

Predators fans can expect center David Legwand back in the lineup tonight against Edmonton, but it looks as if forwards Steve Sullivan and Jason Arnott will target Thursday for their return.

Legwand has missed the last three games with an arm injury, while Sullivan missed the last contest with a groin strain. Arnott has been out since undergoing knee surgery on Nov. 22.

Nashville begins a three-game homestand tonight against the Oilers, with contests against Ottawa on Thursday and St. Louis on Saturday to follow.
