Default Hard/Alt Rock

Check your Metallica, Beach Boys at the door. Talk about your Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots, Tool, Rage Against the Machine Nine Inch Nails, Aerosmith, Foo Fighters, Three Days Grace, Pearl Jam etc. all right here.

You include Aerosmith with a bunch of grunge rejects and no-talent hacks....

Why not? Aerosmith sucked, too. You could throw a blanket over all of these bands.

Right now I'm listening to an acoustic version of Blood Tears Little Girl by Alice in Chains. Pretty good. Lots of hard rocks acoustics are well made.

Plush-STP
Everlong-Foo Fighters
3 Libras-A Perfect Circle
Pardon Me-Incubus
Tonight Tonight-Smashing Pumpkins
Comedown-Bush

All definitely worth a listen.

I like Soundgarden and some Nirvana, that's about it.

Obviously Alice in Chains, Nirvana, and Soundgarden.

Primus...Red Hot Chili Peppers meets Frank Zappa. Insane rock music that never gets old. Love every note. I recommend the Family Values Tour live recording of 'My Name is Mud.'

Tool -more and more, the band I revert to when looking for background music while working/driving/running...hold on, Schism just started playing on the radio. The Pink Floyd of Metal.

Nine Inch Nails - consistent and always interesting...one of the few 'big band' groups I find sedated and disciplined enough to be listenable. Trent Reznor is a composer compared to all of the whiny voiced, three cord hacks that dominate music today.

Rage Against the Machine - don't listen to them nearly as much as I used to, but a fantastically talented and original band whose message unfortunately gets tiresome and tedious over time.

Foo Fighters - There are times when I believe Dave Grohl can do no wrong, but then he'll record something like 'Next Year' and I'll stop listening to music all-together. A love/hate relationship with that band.

I'll admit, Velvet Revolver is a guilty pleasure. Wouldn't buy the albums, but the volume goes up whenever they are on the air. One of the best lead singers of the 90s meets one of the best guitar players of the 80s. How can any self-respecting music fan not indulge?

No love for Mudhoney? I always wondered why they wound up stuck in the PNW while everyone else made the leap to national?

Are you an APC fan Tyler? I've heard some call them a more pop-ish Tool Lite.

Anybody here a Mars Volta fan?

I only was talking about Alt rock, I do however like soem hard rock.

I'm with Tyler, I turn up Velvet when they're on the air.

I am a Red Hot Chili Peppers fan. Flea is god.

Stone Temple Pilots are pretty good too, I am a pretty big Weiland fan which is why I'm into Revolver.

I'm sure there's more I just can't think.

I'm starting to listen to APC. Obviously the comparisons to Tool come with the fact that much of APC's stuff has Tool's frontman Maynard James Keenan as the lead singer. But the music is pretty similar in style and tone as well.

I have 'Judith' playing right now.

By the way, not much of an opinion on the band or the song, but how many people, the first dozen times they heard 'Soulcrusher' on the radio the past few weeks thought it was Chris Cornell singing?

I love Mudhoney. And they're still rocking it, if I recall correctly. Aren't they?

Correction. Aerosmith currently sucks, and has for at least 15 years or so. Prior to that they were pretty damned good.

FYI -- That Armageddon song is the 2nd worst song of all-time. I'm just sayin'...

I'd take a stab at what #1 is, but isn't it obvious?
