Rock. Modern and Alternative in particular. Very little Classic... I guess I just have to like the song for me to say that I like Classic Rock.

I don't really like any other music, to be honest with you. I do like hearing some up the pump-up anthems at stadiums, though.

I can't really say I have a favorite type. Some days, I like the simple structures of baroque and classical. Other days its the passion and range of 19th century Romantic. And on occasion, I'm up for the challenges of the Modern composers.

The same is true in jazz. Big Band can be spectacular. Nothing has the energy of Be-bop. But mostly I like the Third Stream and Fusion schools, exemplified by Miles Davis.

In the pop genres (rock and its sub-genres, country, folk, etc), I tend to go for the lyrics, as the music is all pretty much the same.

Wow. You left out entire genres but subdivided rap/hip-hop/AND R&B which could be combined into one category just as well as "rock" could.

I like southern rock (think lynyrd skynyrd, SRV, etc), alt country (rarely do I listen to that Nashville stuff), classical (even the modern composers - Dario Marianelli is one of my favorites), and jazz as best exemplified by Nat King Cole.

Bite your tongue. Rap doesn't belong anywhere near R&B.

If it were up to me, Rap wouldn't even be on the list.

Don't ask...

Agreed.

Rap isn't music. It's rhyming to a beat.

Heres a Rap song that has good rhymes

Cant C Me (It cuses a lot but he doesnt just make a sucky rhyme it tells a little story believe it or not)

Quote:
2PAC
"Do For Love"

(feat. Eric Williams)

Turn it up loud
Hahaha, ahahaha, hey man
You a little sucker for love, right?
Word up, hahahahaha

I shoulda seen
you was trouble right from the starrrrt, taught me so many lessons
How not to mess with broken hearts, so many questions
When this began we was the perfect match, perhaps
we had some problems but we workin at it, and now
the arguments are gettin loud, I wanna say
But I can't help from walkin out just a little way
Just take my hand and understand, if you could see
I never planned to be a man it just wasn't me
But now I'm searchin for commitment, in other arms
I wanna shelter you from harm, don't be alarmed
Your attitude was the cause, you got me stressin
Soon as I open up the door with your jealous questions
Like where can I be you're killin me with your jealousy
Now my ambition's to be free
I can't breathe, cause soon as I leave, it's like a trap
I hear you callin me to come back, I'm a sucka for love
that's right, sucka for love

{Chorus: Eric Williams}

What you won't do, do for love
You tried everything, but you don't give up
{repeat 2X}

Just when I thought I broke away and I'm fellin happy
You try to trap me say you pregnant and guess who the daddy
Don't wanna fall for it, but in this case what could I do? So now I'm back
to makin promises to you, tryin to keep it true
What if I'm wrong, a trick to keep me on and on
Tryin to be strong and in the process, keep you goin
I'm bout to lose my composure, I'm gettin close
To packin up and leavin notes, and gettin ghost
Tell me who knows, a peaceful place where I can go
To clear my head I'm feelin low, losin control
My heart is sayin leave, oh what a tangle web we weave
when we conspire to conceive, and now
You gettin calls at the house, guess you cheatin
That's all I need to hear cause I'm leavin, I'm out the do'
Never no more will you see me, this is the end
Cause now I know you've been cheatin, I'm a sucka for love
damn, sucka for love... sucka for love
sucka for love

Chorus

Now he left you with scars, tears on your pillow and you still stay
As you sit and pray, hoping the beatings'll go away
It wasn't always a hit and run relationship
It use to be love, happieness and companionship
Remember when I treated you good
I moved you up to hills, out the ills of the ghetto hood
Me and you a happy home, when it was on
I had a love to call my own
I shoulda seen you was trouble but I was lost, trapped in your eyes
Preoccupied with gettin tossed, no need to lie
You had a man and I knew it, you told me
Don't worry bout it we can do it now I'm under pressure
Make a decision cause I'm waitin, when I'm alone
I'm on the phone havin secret conversations, huh
I wanna take your misery, replace it with happiness
but I need your faith in me, I'm a sucka for love
sucka for love, know you ain't right G but yet I'ma sucka for love

Yes... they were. But, that was then, and this is now. They can't compare, as we're voting on Rap in today's generation.

It's like if you asked me what my favorite T.V. show was, and Nickelodeon, Disney, and MTV were all on there. Well, while I still don't know what I would pick, back when all of these channels used to be fantastic! Well... MTV not so much (because I'm not a huge music fan as it is), but boy did these channels lessen in aspiring value so much over the last decade. Oh boy, could I go on about the great Nickelodeon shows...

My point is, if this was a poll, I wouldn't be thinking of the past, and I definitely wouldn't vote on the past. I'd be thinking about today.

Yeah true. There are some good rappers today like Papoose (Whose album comes out in Jan.)

I like Hip-Hop from all time periods not just now!! Some Rap is good but Rap can also be considered Hip-Hop too.

Quote:
Papoose- Born To Win

Yeah (Yeah)
Papoose (Papoose)
I wanna give a big shoutout to Da Riffs! (Shoutout to Da Riffs!)
Keep producing that fire! (That fire! That fire!)
Let's go! (Let's go!)

[Chorus]
Cause when it all begins
My eyes on the prize so it's on again
I refuse to loose I ain't gon pretend
I thought I told you I was born to win
Everybody loves a winner!

Victory I choose
Ain't no turning back cause I paid my dues
I tighten up my laces when I tie my shoes
Born to win, I refuse to lose
Everybody loves a winner!

[Verse 1]
My adrenaline rushing through my veins
Next stop is victory, it's rushing like a train
I'm determined to win, cause there's nothing like the pain of defeat
I refuse to remain incomplete
Gotta lot of stamina cause I train for some weeks
Got my strength from the vitamins and the grains that I eat
All obstacles overcame, I'm unique
I started from the bottom, see I came from beneath
The sky's the limit so I'ma raise to my peak
Winning is everything, let me explain what think
Practice makes perfect, so when working I dont relax
I practice a lot, therefore I'm perfect and that's a fact
Been through some hard times while the burner was on my back
It was rough, but I was determined so I adapt
Gettin what Im deservin, holla back
Game over you lost like a person with outta map

[Chorus]
Everybody loves a winner!

[Verse 2]
My competition said I wasn't ready to face him
My teammates said 'I think we need to replace him'
All the haters used to say 'Boo we hate him'
I wanna thank y'all for the inspiration
Waited a long time for my time I'm anxious
Something like a doctor, cause I got patients
May the best man win, the worst man lose
Last man no choice, the first man choose
I was born as a leader, that's what I gotta be
I don't follow rules, I let the rules follow me
I'ma focus man on the lose, animal out the cage
An ambitious and vicious champion with a rage
What's the difference between a champion and a challenger?
A champion already conquered his caliber
You tryna become, a champion became
I got more wins then a hurricane

[Chorus]
Everybody loves a winner!

[Verse 3]
That's why I eat finer foods
Complete wiser moves, I'ma retire you
No remmorce for these tired dudes
Let's celebrate the victory, I won like three minus two
Its only what you make it thats what we gotta remember
But deep down inside everybodies a winner
You gotta work hard January 'till December
Finish what you start and you can be a contender
Watch the man in the mirror, look into your inner
Self, maintian health and never be a quitter
Gotta shine like the sun, flow like the river
you see a chance to win then take it like a picture
I ain't tryna preach to you don't feel bitter
I'm just tryna tell you what it take to be a winner
He's a champion cause it's impossible to stop him
Victory is a option

[Chorus]
Everybody loves a winner!

That song wasnt bad was it??

ok, I will admit that rap of the past was at the very least tolerable. I still didn't listen to it, but I did acknowledge it.
