Default First Expos president passes away

TheStar.com | Sports | John McHale, 86: Expos' first president
Quote:
John McHale, who was president of the Montreal Expos when they entered the major leagues as an expansion team in 1969, has died. He was 86.

Major League Baseball confirmed McHale's death but it was not immediately clear where or when he died.
Quote:
"Both personally and professionally, John McHale was one of the finest gentlemen I have ever known," baseball commissioner Bud Selig said in a statement. "After his playing career with the Tigers, John became one of the game's most distinguished officials, including in his role as general manager of that club.

"He was a long time mentor of mine and I had the pleasure of serving with him on the board of directors of the National Baseball Hall of Fame. Baseball has lost one of its most respected figures."
R.I.P.

I always associated him with the Tigers. Then again it was a Canadian newspaper where I read this.
