Smile Canadiens Re-sign Josh Gorges as well as 5 Prospects

MONTREAL (CP) - The Montreal Canadiens have re-signed defenceman Josh Gorges as well as five members of their AHL championship team.
The Habs also re-signed defencemen Jean-Philippe Cote and Andrew Archer as well as goaltender Yann Danis and forwards Duncan Milroy and Corey Locke.
The Canadiens acquired Gorges along with San Jose's first-round pick in 2007 (Max Pacioretty) in exchange for Craig Rivet and a 2008 fifth-round pick near the trade deadline last season. Gorges, 22, had four points (1-3), a minus-4 rating and 26 penalty minutes in 54 games with San Jose and Montreal last season.
Milroy, 24, had 13 points (2-11) in Hamilton's AHL title run while also leading the Bulldogs with 25 goals and 58 points during the regular season.
Locke, 23, had 55 points (20-35) in 80 regular-season games while also posting 22 playoff points (10-12). He also played in the AHL all-star game last season.

Archer, 24, also helped the Bulldogs win the Calder Cup this past spring, putting up three assists, 21 penalty minutes and a plus-3 rating in 19 playoff games.
Cote, 25, had 12 points (3-9) and 115 penalty minutes in 68 regular-season games and appeared in six playoff games.
Danis, 26, went 23-14-5 with a .905 save percentage and a 2.81 goals-against average last season.

Great, although I thought Montreal would let Danis go to make room for whatever prospect they wanted in the AHL.
