The Montreal Gazette reports that Alexander Perezhogin has signed a contract with Salavat Yulayev Ufa in the Russian Super League.
Perezhogin's agent Don Meehan told the paper that Perezhogin will net $1.7 million U.S.
"That works out to about $3.4 million gross in the NHL and it's unlikely the Montreal Canadiens could match that," Meehan told the Gazette.
Perezhogin earned $627,000 last season.
Perezhogin had six goals and nine assists in 61 games last season, and was a team-high plus-11. He played 67 games in his first season with the Canadiens, scoring nine goals and 19 points.
He was taken 25th overall by the Montreal at the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.

Not sure if this is a surprise to Hab fans or not, but as a B's fan it's a bit surprising. I thought he had a lot of potential but he must feel like he doesn't really have a shot with the big club to make this kind of decision.
