Default Shocking confession!

May as well just spit it out:
I like the Boston Bruins.
No matter how this series goes, short of Jeremy Reich or Milan Lucic taking out a gun and shooting either of my main men, Josh Gorges or Sergei Kostitsyn, I just can't get a serious hate-on for Canadiens' first-round opponents.
I reserve my loathing for the Flyers, And I feel mild disdain for the Hurricanes, Panthers, Predators et al – teams of zero tradition that Bettman the Evil Dwarf thinks can sell hockey in the Sun Belt.
But I like Canadian teams (but Ottawa and Calgary not so much).
And I like the Original Six – none more than Boston.

The reasons, in no particular order.
Bobby Orr: Easily the greatest hockey player I've ever seen.
The city of Boston: Old, decrepit, Catholic, populated by crazy people ... just like Montreal.
Best coach's name ever: Bep Guidolin.
The Red Sox: It's no fun now that they win. But if you haven't been to Fenway Park, you haven't seen baseball.
Bobby Kennedy: Thinking about what might have been, I could cry.
The novels of George V. Higgins: Master of Boston dialogue. In recalling his mother receiving last rites, a Higgins character snarls "Ma coulda died in the toilet, Broons're playin' Canadiens. There ain't a priest for miles."
Chris Nilan: a Southie in bleu-blanc-rouge
The Friends of Eddie Coyle, Mystic River, The Departed, Gone, Baby, Gone: How many great movies have been made about Phoenix? How many good ones?
The Kingston Trio's M.T.A.: Did he ever return?
The Common
The Combat Zone
The patois: It's totally pissah.
Zdeno Chara: They boo him at the Bell Centre, but you know what? The big galoot is an honest and honourable sportsman. If Chara had the temperament of Chris Neil – or, God help us, Chris Simon – every team in the Eastern Conference would have 10 players on the DL.
