Default Kovalev earns Molson Cup honors for December

MONTREAL – Right-winger Alex Kovalev is the third recipient of the 2007-08 Molson Cup award, as he won the December segment. Kovalev earns the honor for a second consecutive segment and a third time since he joined the Canadiens.
Kovalev collected 13 points in December, edging teammate Christopher Higgins who collected 11 points.
In 14 December games, Kovalev scored four goals and amassed ten assists, for a total of 14 points (4-10-14), while posting a plus-7 rating.
The Russian forward currently leads the Molson Cup overall standings with 31 points, four ahead of Cristobal Huet and Christopher Higgins (27 points).
Kovalev will be presented with the Molson Cup during a pre-game ceremony prior to tonight’s game against the Tampa Bay Lightning at the Bell Centre.
