Default Price earns Molson Cup for October

MONTREAL - Goaltender Carey Price is the first recipient of the Molson Cup for the 2007-08 season. Price received the most points based on the three star selections and as such he is the Canadiens Player of the Month for October.
Price earned 11 points in the Molson Cup standings following two first star selections: October 10 at Pittsburgh (3-2 win) and October 30 vs Atlanta (3-2 shootout loss), and a 3rd star selection October 27 at Pittsburgh (4-3 shootout win). He finished ahead of forward Tomas Plekanec, who also recorded 11 points (1- 2-0). The number of first star selections was the tie breaker in determining the Molson Cup winner.
Price, who played four of the Canadiens’ 11 games in October, posted a record of two wins, one loss and one overtime loss. He ended the month of October with a goals-against-average of 2.65 and a .906 save percentage.
In 2007-2008, the Molson Cup scoring system awards five points for a first star selection, three points for a second star selection and one point for a third star selection.
A presentation honoring the Molson Cup winner will take place prior to tonight’s game against the Buffalo Sabres, at the Bell Centre.
