Default Training camp by numbers

MONTREAL – With two games left on the preseason schedule and just one week to go until the regular season gets underway, here’s a look at training camp so far in numbers.
Goals scored by Tomas Plekanec against the Boston Bruins on Sunday afternoon, propelling the centre to the Canadiens lead in points (5) and power-play goals (2). Plekanec was also the goal-scoring leader during the 2005-06 preseason.
Games the Canadiens played in seven days. During that stretch, the club headed east to Moncton and Halifax to face the New York Islanders and Boston Bruins, respectively.
Shots on goal by the younger of the Kostitsyn brothers, Sergei. The 20-year-old right-winger leads all Canadiens in shots, just ahead of Mark Streit (11) and Alex Kovalev (9).
Shifts for defenseman Andrei Markov in the preseason opener on Sept. 17. With Mathieu Carle and Andrew Archer lost to injury, Guy Carbonneau relied on the Russian blueliner for 32 minutes.
Players who kicked off training camp on Sept. 14 in Pierrefonds. A few days later, seven players were returned to their respective junior teams, bringing the number down to 55. Another 29 players were released from training camp on Monday, with 27 headed to Hamilton and two returning to their junior clubs.
Success rate percentage on the penalty kill over six preseason games, second-best in the league behind only the Carolina Hurricanes. Down a man on 34 occasions, the Canadiens have blinked just twice, with both goals against coming in the third period.
