Game preview: Canadiens vs. Penguins Sep 17, 2007, 7:30 PM MONTREAL – On your marks…get set…go! The Canadiens kick off their jam-packed preseason calendar tonight, playing no less than eight games from now until Sept. 29, including six over the next seven days. It all gets started with a visit from Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and Co. as the Penguins are in town for a pair of back-to-back matchups on Monday and Tuesday.Slow and steady…: Last season, the Canadiens suffered a pair of losses in preseason opening contests with the Boston Bruins. Despite the slow start, the club would finish strong, winning three of their final four games. Split series: The Canadiens and Penguins split the 2006-07 season series with each team taking a pair of victories. Michael Ryder, Alex Kovalev and Tomas Plekanec led the charge for the Habs, notching three points apiece against Crosby's crew. Goal fiesta: Over the course of the Canadiens’ four games against Pittsburgh last season, the word “defense” appeared to have been missing from the dictionary. In total, 34 goals were scored, for a whopping average of 8.5 goals per game.
