Default Rumor: Parrish and Dupuis being shopped by Risebrough

http://wild.mostvaluablenetwork.com/...pascal-dupuis/

Rumors floating about that the Wild are looking to deal Mark Parrish and Pascal Dupuis

~ Derek Felska MVN Staff Writer

According to the Ottawa Sun and also some notable hockey rumor websites that Wild General Manager Doug Risebrough is shopping around for deals that see forwards Mark Parrish and Pascal Dupuis moved. The recently acquired goal-mouth sniper Parrish is just 29, and he signed a 5-year deal worth $2.7 million per season so rumor of him being considered as trade bait is rather surprising to say the least. Pascal Dupuis on the otherhand; who has been scoring alot as of late has been somewhat disappointing by his performances since his breakout 2002-03 season where he scored 20 goals. While no teams have been named as being interested in Parrish’s services (which is sort of what you’d expect considering he’s on Year #1 of a 5-year deal), the teams that are interested in Dupuis include; Phoenix, Boston, Pittsburgh, Montreal and Chicago.

The best question to ask right now is, why? The Wild have only won 3 of their last eleven games. Yet despite the Wild’s slump which coincides to an injury to star winger Marian Gaborik, the team is still in 1st place in the Northwest Division albeit one that is a total log jam with a mere 5 points separating the top from the bottom. Dupuis is currently on a 1-year deal at $798,000 per season. This fact alone makes it much more plausible that he would be moved; and the fact he’s been lighting the lamp with more frequency lately certainly factors into the substantiality of this rumor as well.

I do have a hard time believing the team is looking to move Mark Parrish at this point in the season. Parrish’s production is rather modest with 5 goals and 5 assists in 23 games with the Wild this season. A team does not commit itself in a salary cap era rather easily to signing players to a 5-year contract. I would find it hard to believe that many teams would want to take on the risk a 5-year contract would ask of them. With our team still in the playoff picture, it seems almost out of character for the team to start making drastic changes to its roster at this point in the season; especially with the injury situation with Marian Gaborik being what it is. We shall see what becomes of this rumor; whether its one we have to report more on or another notion that would be best be served by being placed into the circular file.

Default Doesn't make sense

Doesn't make sense to trade these guys this early in the season. I think you are 100% right LISG that this is just that, a rumor.

Who said I said this; this is just an article I posted. I do agree with it however and at least as far as Parrish is concerned I think its just a rumor. As for dealing Pascal Dupuis...I can see it possibly. Perhaps as a move to free up some cap space. GO WILD!!!
