The 2007 schedule for the Minnesota Vikings was released today by the National Football League. The schedule features a Monday night game at home against the defending NFC Champion Chicago Bears and seven games against 2006 playoff teams.
The Vikings will open the season at home against Atlanta on September 9. This will mark the third time in the past four seasons that the Vikings have opened at the Metrodome. The Vikings played the Falcons in the '99 season opener at Atlanta. The Vikings will then go on the road the next two weeks with games at Detroit on September 16 and at Kansas City on September 23. Minnesota returns home on September 30 to host division rival Green Bay. Following the bye on October 7, Minnesota will play four straight games against 2006 playoff teams. The Vikings travel to Chicago on October 14 and then to Dallas the following week on October 21. Minnesota will then host the Philadelphia Eagles on October 28, followed by the San Diego Chargers, who posted an NFL-best 14-2 record in '06, on November 4. The Vikings will host the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football on December 17 on ESPN. The division rivals last played on a Monday night on October 28, 1996, at the Metrodome, with the Bears winning 15-13. Facing teams from the AFC, the Vikings will have inter-conference matchups with the AFC West. In addition to playing San Diego and Kansas City, the Vikings will also host the Oakland Raiders on November 18 and travel to Denver on December 30 for the season finale. "We're really excited to open the season at home and to play three NFC North teams in our first five games," Vikings Head Coach Brad Childress said. "After starting on the road last year we're looking forward to opening up in front of our fans. We don't play many games at home in the beginning of the season but I'm happy to have four of the last seven at the Metrodome." 2007 Season tickets on sale now, starting at $19.61 per seat per game. Not the easiest schedule, Detroit is the worst team on their, and who knows about Washington, Atlanta, and Green Bay. Plus with all the improvements the Raiders have done with the draft, wonder how they'll do. Not an easy schedule at all for a team that didn't do to great last year at 6-10
