1. Brad Childress's decision to bench Johnson is about 4 games too late. Bollinger and Jackson were both able to move the ball better than Johnson the short time each were in. It's amazing it took Johnson's PATHETIC performance today before he finally made the switch....after the season has been lost. Again, I feel bad for the vets on defense who have played so hard all year long.
2. Childress's offense was just as bad today as it has been all season. Settling for FG's in the red zone and swing passes to Mewelde Moore and three yard outs to the wide receivers are not going to get it done on 3rd and 8 or 9. Childress has been "gutless" all season and the story was no different today. I can also not believe it has taken Childress this long to discover that, hey, Ciatrick Fason is a pretty good physical runner and could be used in this offense. 3. It's time to let the young guys play. Cook, Williamson, Fason, T-Jack and Marcus Johnson all need to see time here in the last four games to make evaluations for next year because the season is OVER. It's important for these young guys to buy into what Childress is selling for next season and for some to regain some confidence (Williamson and Marcus Johnson). |

"We're just tired of seeing this," said safety Darren Sharper, who watched the Bears accumulate 16 points on Devin Hester's second-quarter punt return, Ricky Manning's third-quarter interception return and a safety in the fourth quarter.
"You want to have every phase of the team working and you can't keep killing yourself," Sharper said. "Just look back at the season and how it's been. If we could have just taken care of the football, that could have accounted for three or four more wins. That changes the season around. It's disappointing because you have people that can make those corrections. It just happens on game day that we don't do it. That's the disappointing factor." Wow. Good for guys like Sharper and Winfield calling out Childress and his sorry-butt offense, it is well deserved. |

Freak. Couldn't agree with you more but not on the Williamson part. He needs to sit awhile until we are COMPLETELY out of it. If we beat Detroit this week, we could be in a tie for the last wildcard spot. If we're totally out after this week or next, then I'd give him a shot. I don't know why he hasn't been used on WR screens though.
Settling for FGs is so true though. 3rd and goal at the 5 and we run a forward shovel to Wiggins? How DUMB and mind-boggling was THAT???? THank you Darren and Antoine. As they said, we have the guys but they aren't being used right. No red zone lobs to MRob? All year???? |

Yeah, somehow we are still in the hunt for a playoff spot (which shows just how bad the NFC is this year).
On Troy, I just cant give up on him and would like to see get some passes thrown his way and regain some confidence. I remember when Jake Reed was going through the same thing in the late 90's with drops and it was tough to see. I still think Troy has the potential to be a realy good player and right now, he is our future at that position. Give him something simple like a reverse or one of the WR screen's Moss used to get all the time. Troy is great after the ball is in his hands, its getting the ball in his hands thats the problem. We need this guy to come around for us and sitting him behind stiffs like Robinson, Taylor and McMullen is not helping our future. |
