Twins signed catcher-first baseman Matthew LeCroy to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.
It's a very good signing if the Twins are willing to leave room for him. LeCroy, a career .288/.365/.519 hitter against lefties, is the best option the team has to platoon with Jason Kubel at DH. However, that doesn't mean he'll have a job. The Twins already seem committed to carrying Jeff Cirillo, Lew Ford, Jason Tyner and Mike Redmond as bench players.
