Default Bucks Hope Redd Returns as They Visit Hornets

Quote:
The Milwaukee Bucks hope Michael Redd will be back on the court to help them snap out of an extended funk.

After missing 16 games with a strained patellar tendon in his left knee, Redd will be a gametime decision Thursday when the Bucks visit the New Orleans Hornets.

Milwaukee's leading scorer with 27.7 points per game was sore after returning to practice Monday, but was expected to travel with the team to Oklahoma City. Redd is averaging 31.3 points in his last seven meetings with the Hornets (22-27).

The Bucks (19-30) were 16-17 with Redd, and have dropped 13 of 16 games since his injury. They are coming off one of the wins, though, beating the Orlando Magic 116-111 on Tuesday to snap a four-game losing streak.

Default Hornets Outwork, Outlast Bucks in Double OT

Quote:
OKLAHOMA CITY, Feb. 8 (AP) -- Considering his team's recent success, coach Byron Scott suggested it wouldn't be a bad idea if the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets went to overtime in each of their remaining 32 games.

Desmond Mason scored 24 points and David West shrugged off a bruised hand to add 21 points and a career-high 19 rebounds as New Orleans/Oklahoma City beat the Milwaukee Bucks 109-101 in double-overtime Thursday night.

It was the second straight overtime win for the Hornets, who survived on Mason's last-second tip-in a night earlier in Denver. The Hornets hadn't won back-to-back overtime games since beating San Antonio and Cleveland in games bracketing Christmas in 2000 - when the team was still in Charlotte.

Default Bucks lose to Hornets

Quote:
Oklahoma City - The Milwaukee Bucks' road losing streak was extended to eight games here Thursday night in a 109-101 double-overtime loss to the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets.

After failing to take advantage of opportunities to win the game at the end of the regulation and the first overtime, the Bucks were outscored in the second overtime period, 12-4.

The Hornets set a franchise record by grabbing 71 rebounds - 22 by center Tyson Chandler and 19 by forward David West - in out-rebounding the Bucks by 22. The Hornets' 31 offensive rebounds were also a franchise record.

Default This one really stings

Quote:
Oklahoma City - The Milwaukee Bucks were right where they wanted to be but couldn't finish the job.

Unable to take advantage of opportunities to win the game at the end of the regulation and the first overtime, the Bucks finally fell to the New Orleans / Oklahoma City Hornets in two overtimes, 109-101, Thursday night at the Ford Center.

Default Game report: Thursday at a glance

Quote:
ON THE COURT
Player of the game: Center Tyson Chandler had a huge rebounding night for the Hornets, who punished the Bucks on the boards, 71-49. Chandler had 22.

Plays of the game: After the Bucks had rallied to tie the score at 82-82 late in regulation, two consecutive tip-ins by Chandler were disallowed because of offensive basket interference.

Statistics sheet: Defensive three-second technical fouls were the call of the night early, as two such violations were called against the Bucks in the first quarter and one against the Hornets.

Off the bench: With Bucks newcomer Jared Reiner not yet programmed into the Hornets' computer system, Reiner's first-quarter statistics were given to Brian Skinner. The situation was corrected by halftime.

Default Hornets know it's over if it's in overtime

Quote:
OKLAHOMA CITY -- Honest, he was kidding.

Before Thursday's game against the Milwaukee Bucks, Coach Byron Scott was reminded that his Hornets, maddeningly inconsistent, were a perfect 3-0 in overtime games.

At Denver just the night before, they hadn't led once -- until overtime.

Default West battling back from injuries

Quote:
Hornets forward David West didn't think much of his 21 points and career-high 19 rebounds Thursday night.

"I'm just happy that we won,” said West of the Hornets' 109-101 double overtime victory over the Milwaukee Bucks. "For me, it's about wins and losses and just staying in this playoff hunt and trying to go into the All-Star break with some momentum.”

Default Extra periods again deliver Hornets' win

Quote:
Knowing full well his team entered Thursday night's game against the Milwaukee Bucks with a perfect 3-0 record in overtime, Hornets coach Byron Scott joked before the game that he wished the rest of this season's games would go into an extra period.

Sure enough, when the Hornets blew a 10-point, fourth-quarter lead, overtime proved to be just what they needed to outlast the Bucks 109-101 in double overtime at the Ford Center.

Default Despite poor shooting, Paul key in team's double-OT win

Quote:
Thursday was a record-setting night for David West, Tyson Chandler and the Hornets.

But none of it would have been possible without point guard Chris Paul.

On a night when he shot 3 for 17 from the field, Paul was still able to force overtime with a length-of-the-court drive that resulted in a game-tying layup with 0.9 seconds remaining in regulation.

Had Paul not prolonged the game, the Hornets wouldn't have had a chance to beat Milwaukee 109-101 in double-overtime before a crowd of 17,364 inside the Ford Center.

Default Desperation is best game plan for the Hornets

Quote:
The Hornets tossed up 105 shots Thursday night at the Ford Center. That's a bunch of shots, even in a 58-minute, double-overtime game that was somewhere south of classic and somewhere north of interesting.

The Hornets needed all buck-five of those shots just to scratch out a 109-101 victory over the limited Milwaukee Bucks. The hometowners missed 66 shots; the Hornets had one game earlier this season in which they didn't even take 66 shots.
