Washington D.C. - Milwaukee Bucks guard Mo Williams exited the Verizon Center court Wednesday night wearing a broad grin.

The Bucks had just been dealt a bitter 108-105 defeat by the Washington Wizards on a buzzer-beating three-point shot by Gilbert Arenas, yet Williams was smiling.

Sometimes, you laugh to keep from crying.

"It was a good shot," Williams said. "It was funny. You play hard. . . . I would liked to have seen that game going into overtime."

PLAYER OF THE GAME: Timing is everything, especially when it comes to Gilbert Arenas making last-second, game-winning shots. "He times it just right," Wizards coach Eddie Jordan said. "He gets himself in position and then it was just the flick of the wrist. He is amazing."

PLAY OF THE GAME: The surprising thing about Arena's winning shot was that he didn't try to advance the ball quicker after the Bucks had missed. "We were not going to run a play at the end of the game," Arenas said. "The play was to get up the court and get a good shot. I realized once Antawn (Jamison) got the rebound and gave it to me, there was 6 seconds left in the game and there was no point in trying to beat the defense up the court."

OFF THE BENCH: Bucks forward Charlie Villanueva did not suit up because of right shoulder tendinitis. He missed a game against Minnesota on Dec. 16 because of the same injury.

STATISTICS SHEET: Both teams turned the ball over 17 times. The Bucks scored 24 points off turnovers while Washington scored 12 points off turnovers.

WASHINGTON, Jan. 3 (AP) -- Gilbert Arenas got the ball with the score tied and 6 seconds to play. He dribbled downcourt, read Charlie Bell's retreating feet, stopped and stroked a perfect jumper 32 feet from the basket.

"Once I let it go, I'm like, 'That's in,''' Arenas said. "I don't even need to look at this one.''

He didn't. He turned with a snarl and a strut, strolling away with his back to the basket as if it were another shot on the playground. The ball swished through the net, giving Arenas another signature moment to his growing legacy and the Washington Wizards a 108-105 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks.

Arenas's Timing Is Impeccable in Victory

Five seconds were left. Four were left. Then three. A Verizon Center crowd of 14,632 began to panic, figuring there was no way Gilbert Arenas would have time to break a tie with the Milwaukee Bucks.

Arenas had just crossed midcourt when he looked up at the clock above Milwaukee's basket and sized up the man assigned to him, Charlie Bell. With a simple flick of a wrist, Arenas released a jump shot from 32 feet that obediently fell through the net.

Ballgame.

The shot gave the Wizards a 108-105 victory, avenged a 17-point road loss to the Bucks on Saturday night and was the latest sign that Arenas, who will celebrate his 25th birthday tomorrow, deserves to be listed with the biggest stars in the game.

If body language is to be interpreted, Gilbert Arenas was a viper last night at Verizon Center.

In one of the more remarkable displays of bravado and confidence all wrapped up into one, Arenas pulled the trigger on a 32-foot, game-winning 3-pointer that went in as time expired, giving the Wizards a dramatic 108-105 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks.
