Brewers, Shouse avoid arbitration
MILWAUKEE -- The Brewers avoided a potential arbitration hearing with Brian Shouse, agreeing to terms on Tuesday with the left-handed reliever on a one-year, $975,000 contract for 2007. Acquired from the Rangers in May for Minor League shortstop Enrique Cruz, Shouse became a major cog in the Milwaukee bullpen and went 1-3 with a 3.97 ERA and two saves in 59 relief appearances after the trade. He turned 38 just before the end of the regular season. Brewers.com |

Can't hurt to keep a lefty in the pen. Since he's the only one we have right now. From his split numbers it looks like he got tired towards the end of the season. 3.18 era with a 1.41 whip before, and after the break 5.17 era with a 1.66 whip.
