I'm not a big Brewers fan so I'm sorry if this has been answered before. I'm in great need of strikeouts in my fantasy league, and I hear the next big thing is Yovani Gallardo. I can tell this kid is the real deal just by his stats, so i just wanted to know what the chances are that he'll be called up. Is an injury the only way this kid will be called up this year?
-- Jason R., San Francisco Gallardo is not just knocking on the door of the big-leagues, he has thrown down his glove and is banging with both fists. He got knocked around in his last start -- a loss to Ben Hendrickson!! -- but is absolutely dominating the Pacific Coast League's strikeout race with 98, tops in the Minor Leagues over organizational teammate Will Inman. He's ready. But all indications from the Brewers are that they are taking a cautious approach, and that they have no plans to move starter Dave Bush anywhere despite his struggles after the sixth inning. They said the same types of things just before third baseman Ryan Braun was called up from Triple-A Nashville, but with Gallardo it looks like they mean it. I don't think you promote a pitcher of his caliber to stick him in the bullpen, so, yes, barring an injury it appears Gallardo will continue working in the Minors for now. Brewers pitching coach Mike Maddux is a huge Gallardo fan, and this could be his last full month down there. The Official Site of The Milwaukee Brewers: News: Milwaukee Brewers News |

Will Inman has also just moved from A to AA. Hopefully he can get going on a fast track. I'd love to see him challenge for a spot like Villanueva has, next season with a rotation like Sheets, Cappy, Supp, Gallardo and Villanueva...man...with Vargas and Bush either in the pen or traded for pen help.
