1B Matt LaPorta out of UF.
This seems kind of odd being that I kind of like our current 1B. He actually went to high school in the area I live in. They are saying he can play in the OF, and he was a Catcher in HS.

The Milwaukee Brewers have selected Matt LaPorta with the seventh overall pick in the June Amateur Free Agent Draft.
LaPorta, 22, is a college senior coming off of a very successful season with the Florida Gators. He was named the SEC player of the year after his sophomore year in which he led the nation in home runs with 26. This coincided with the Gators facing the Texas Longhorns in the championship game of the College World Series. LaPorta entered his junior season as arguably the most prolific power hitters available for the 2006 draft. A disappointing season caused LaPorta to fall to the 14th round where he was selected by the Boston Red Sox. Despite playing well on the Cape Cod League last summer, the Red Sox were unable to sign LaPorta, and he decided to return to Florida for his senior year of eligibility. Brewerfan.net - News |

The Milwaukee Brewers saw a power-hitting leftfielder, not a power-hitting first baseman, when they selected Matt LaPorta out of the University of Florida with the seventh pick of the first round of the draft Thursday.
The Brewers raised some eyebrows when they selected LaPorta, who played first base for the Gators, because they already are set at that position for years to come with 23-year-old Prince Fielder. But Jack Zduriencik, the Brewers' director of amateur scouting, quickly explained that the Brewers view LaPorta as their leftfielder of the future. JS Online: Brewers pick from position of power |
