Assuming Derrick Turnbow gets past the control problems that forced him from the closer's role last season, the Milwaukee Brewers could have the best assortment of power arms in their bullpen of any National League club in 2007.

Turnbow, who throws in the high 90s (mph), was replaced in the second half of last season by newcomer Francisco Cordero, whose fastball also approaches triple digits with regularity. Cordero enters camp as the closer until proven otherwise, but if Turnbow returns to his all-star form of the first half of 2006 the Brewers will have perhaps the most feared 1-2 late-inning punch.

"We think Turnbow is going to be OK," general manager Doug Melvin said. "He made the all-star team in the first half, so we know what he can do. It wasn't a health issue. (Pitching coach) Mike Maddux will work with him to get his mechanics straightened out and throwing the ball the way we know he can."
