Default Jenkins, Yost reconnect over winter break

Quote:
Milwaukee Brewers manager Ned Yost and embattled outfielder Geoff Jenkins have buried the hatchet, and not in each other's back, according to Yost.

"Speaking from my side of it, there's absolutely no disconnect," said Yost, who has spoken "a few times" with Jenkins on the telephone this winter, as recently as last week. "And after talking with him, I don't feel there's a disconnect on his part, either."

That probably comes as a surprise to those who believe Jenkins' return to the Brewers training camp this spring creates an awkward situation between player and manager. After waiting more than four months for Jenkins to get hot last season, Yost removed him from the starting lineup Aug. 10 and went with younger players.

I don't believe it. There relationship probably still has some hard feelings. It was obvious that Yost was writing Jenkins off the club during the second half of last season and beyond and there relationship is not going to change? I respect them for saying this in public though that they have no problems with each other and are not airing their grievances public like most teams do. Jenkins is in a contract year and wants to prove he can still play and the best way to show he can still play is to play.

Default Jenkins may go back to left

Quote:
Milwaukee Brewers' manager Ned Yost is strongly considering moving Geoff Jenkins back to left field, his original position.

When the Brewers acquired Carlos Lee before the 2005 season, Jenkins accommodated him by moving to right field, with no complaint.

That makes a lot of sense with the way the outfield situation is right now. Jenkins has more value and is a better player in left field.

I agree that they probably still have hard feelings but they're professionals and they won't let personal grudges get in the way of the team.
