Post 2007 Brewers: Talent, depth please GM Melvin

Quote:
Since being hired as the Milwaukee Brewers' general manager on Sept. 25, 2002, Doug Melvin has been waiting for a season like the one that will start in April.

With an offseason trade that brought in another bat and a free-agent signing to bolster the rotation, the Brewers will enter spring training next month with as much talent and depth as Melvin has had during his tenure.

It looks like the Brewers might be heading in the right direction after teasing their fans in 2005 with their first .500 season in 12 years, only to slip to 75-87 in a 2006 campaign filled with injuries and dashed hopes.

I agree the depth is going to be excellent this year and come in handy in case of injuries but there are a few starting positions I wish would be upgraded over what we currently have. I think anything less than a second place finish in the division will be a failure season.
