Exclamation Luther Hackman signed to minor league deal

Brewers signed RHP Luther Hackman to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.

Hackman, who last pitched in the majors in 2003,, was picked up by the Brewers last August and assigned to Double-A Huntsville, where he went 3-0 with a 0.66 ERA in eight relief outings. He'll likely be a part of the bullpen at Triple-A Nashville.

Yeah his odds are not very good but he has been effective in the past and there is usually a couple of surprise stories out of spring training.

Default Hackman showing his stuff in winter ball

Luther Hackman's performance in the Mexican Pacific League playoffs shouldn't be surprising, considering his wealth of experience.

The 32-year-old right-hander has pitched in more than 400 games since being drafted in 1994. He owns a 52-70 Minor League record and is 9-10 with four Major League teams.

I remember Hackman from his days with the Cardinals. He actually wasn't all that bad and IIRC he even started a few games for us. His claim to fame is that he was traded to the Cardinals in the Darryl Kile deal from Colorado.
