Default Capuano agrees to 1 year deal

Quote:
Brewers agreed to terms with LHP Chris Capuano on a one-year, $3.25 million contract.

That's the midpoint of the $3.7 million he asked for and the $2.8 million he was offered in arbitration. A multiyear deal could be discussed during the spring.

You can only hope a long term deal gets worked out with him. Then we would have Sheets, Suppan, and him sured up. Not too shabby of a rotation for years to come. He has been a great pitcher and pretty consistent since he came to Milwaukee.

Default Capuano rewarded with one-year deal

Quote:
MILWAUKEE -- Chris Capuano gladly traded a few bogeys for his first multimillion-dollar payday.
The Brewers left-hander was playing golf in Phoenix with his dad, Frank, while the final details of his $3.25 million, one-year contract were ironed out on Wednesday. Soon after his group made the turn, Capuano's deal was done.

"I was playing great for the first nine holes, and now my golf game has gone to [heck]," Capuano said from the 17th hole. "But I'm happy to have a deal done."

Default A hefty raise

Quote:
Milwaukee Brewers left-hander Chris Capuano was enjoying a solid round of golf with his father and a family friend Wednesday at a resort course in Carefree, Ariz., when he was distracted by a cell phone call from his agent.

Capuano said his game suffered: "I started shanking balls all over the place."

Any golfer would love such a distraction. The call from Capuano's agent, Michael Moye, delivered news that the final details were in place for a $3.25 million contract for 2007.

Considering Capuano made $450,000 last season, it's easy to see why he got a bit excited.

"It's crazy to think you can make this kind of money playing a game," Capuano said. "It does change your life to a certain extent."

Default Brewers' Capuano agrees to $3.25 million deal

Quote:

MILWAUKEE — Left-hander Chris Capuano and the Milwaukee Brewers agreed to a $3.25 million, one-year contract on Wednesday, avoiding salary arbitration.

Capuano made the NL All-Star team last season but then had a poor second half, winning only one more game and finishing 11-12 with a 4.03 ERA in 34 starts. He asked for $3.7 million in arbitration Tuesday and the Brewers offered $2.8 million. He earned $450,000 last year.
