Post Mench, Brewers avoid arbitration

Quote:
MILWAUKEE -- For the first time this winter, Kevin Mench's name came up in something other than a trade rumor. The outfielder signed a one-year contract with the Brewers on Tuesday, avoiding arbitration.

Mench, who turned 29 earlier this month, was considered the centerpiece of the six-player trade that sent slugger Carlos Lee to Texas last July for a package that also included reliever Francisco Cordero, outfielder Laynce Nix and a Minor Leaguer. But while Cordero emerged as the Brewers' new closer, Mench slumped badly, hitting .230 after the trade with no home runs after July 30.

Default

That's probably more than he deserves after what he did for us last season. Hopefully he gets traded before opening day and we won't have to worry about him again.
