Default Mark Rogers likely to have Surgery

Quote:
The injury bug has hit yet another pitching prospect in the Milwaukee Brewers' farm system. It appears that former first round draft pick Mark Rogers (left) needs shoulder surgery.

Right-hander Mark Rogers, the Brewers' first-round draft pick in 2004, is facing the likelihood of surgery after a continuation of the shoulder pain that forced him to be shut down in the second half of the 2006 season at Class A Brevard County (Fla.).

Join the club of Nick Neugebauer, JM Gold, and Mike Jones. Rogers thus far in his career has been very disappointing.

Even more disappointing is that we could've drafted Homer Bailey. Imagine Gallardo and Bailey, those are some nice trade chips if so desired.

Yeah, You have to wonder why they even bother drafting pitchers that throws across the body.

You usely send them right too Rookie ball where they have to be teached the mechanics of throwing the ball and sence they are teaching them a whole new way of throwing it they don't do to well as Rogers has proved it.

And if your lucky they make it too the Majors after 5 or 6 years and if your really lucky you get pass there rookie season before they blow out there shoulder and never be herd from again.

Assistant general manager Gord Ash said right-hander Mark Rogers is headed for shoulder surgery after getting a second opinion and a new set of tests. Rogers was the Brewers' first-round draft pick in 2004 and pitched last season at Class A Brevard County.

"In all likelihood, he will be a surgical candidate," Ash said. "There appears to be no value to conservative treatment at this point."

Ash said Rogers' surgery probably will be in early January. He is expected to miss most if not all of the 2007 season.

Default Surgery Should Sideline Rogers For '07

MILWAUKEE--There's a good chance that Brewers pitching prospect Mark Rogers will miss the 2007 season after having shoulder surgery in early January, though his family hopes for an earlier return.

Rogers, the Brewers' first-round draft pick in 2004, had a SLAP (superior labrum anterior-posterior) lesion repaired in his right shoulder by specialist John E. Conway in Fort Worth, Texas. Rogers, 20, began experiencing shoulder discomfort in the second half of last season and did not show enough improvement during a program of physical therapy and throwing.
