I spoke with the agent for free agent outfielder Luis Gonzalez this afternoon and he assured me that Gonzalez would love to play for the Brewers in 2008.

"Luis thinks he'd be a perfect fit in Milwaukee," said agent Terry Bross. "He knows they're looking for a left-handed bat in left field and could benefit from his veteran experience as well."

The 40-year-old Gonzalez is not the same player he was in 2001, when he slugged 57 homers and drove in 142 runs for Arizona. But Bross believes he is still a productive player under the right circumstances and environment, which he said Milwaukee presents.
