Lightbulb Brewers will trade a pitcher

Brewers will trade a pitcher - Brewers Blog

Quote:
Nashville - I still think the Brewers will trade at least one starting pitcher, and perhaps even two, before spring training opens.

The Brewers have eight candidates for their starting rotation, making them one of the few teams in the big leagues with a surplus of that commodity. Once the feeding frenzy ends over top-line pitchers such as Minnesota's Johan Santana, Oakland's Dan Haren and Baltimore's Erik Bedard, look for teams to come to the Brewers, asking for one of their pitchers.

Whether a pitcher such as lefty Chris Capuano goes to St. Louis for third baseman Scott Rolen or to Los Angeles for an outfielder such as Andre Ethier, I expect the Brewers to strengthen their club elsewhere by trading a pitcher.

I'll preview the options for the starting rotation in my Sunday column on the Brewers, so check that out. I'll provide this one tidbit for fans of young lefty Manny Parra: manager Ned Yost says he'll be given every opportunity to make the starting five.
