Nashville - The Brewers talked with the Arizona Diamondbacks about closer Jose Valverde but I was told they didn't have a match as far as making a trade.

The D-Backs are looking for a starting pitcher in return and probably a very good one, considering Valverde led the NL with 47 saves last year. I'm sure dangling Chris Capuano or Dave Bush wasn't nearly enough.

It surprises me that Arizona is making Valverde available but apparently they think they can cover him with Tony Pena and/or Brandon Lyon.
