Lightbulb Melvin won't do Weeks for C. Cordero

Melvin won't do Weeks for C. Cordero - Brewers Blog

Quote:
Nashville - Brewers general manager Doug Melvin could have Washington closer Chad Cordero if he wanted.

All he'd have to do is send the Nationals second baseman Rickie Weeks.

Forget it. Ain't gonna happen.

Melvin confirmed to me today that Nationals GM Jim Bowden has proposed a Cordero for Weeks swap, in the wake of the Brewers losing free agent closer Francisco Cordero to Cincinnati. But he reiterated that he won't trade one of his young infielders for a closer.

Yeah, Melvin is wess and he knows that he can't replace a player like weeks or any other infielder with another Player that is just as good as them that wouldn't demand more Money and giving him up for a Questionable Closer that would likely prove to be only a short term Fix.
