Talking Braun named NL Rookie of the Year

MILWAUKEE -- In the end, the astounding things Ryan Braun did at the plate trumped the things he didn't do well in the field.
The Brewers' third baseman won the 2007 Jackie Robinson National League Rookie of the Year Award on Monday from the Baseball Writers Association of America. Braun edged Colorado shortstop Troy Tulowitzki to become Milwaukee's first rookie of the year since shortstop Pat Listach won the American League honor in 1992.

Braun was listed first on 17 of 32 ballots, second on 14 ballots and third on one for 128 points, based on the 5-3-1 tabulation system. Tulowitzki was first on 15 ballots and second on the other 17 for 126 points. The two-point differential was the closest in the NL since the current system was adopted in 1980.

Default Braun aims even higher after ROY

MILWAUKEE -- Brewers rookie Ryan Braun celebrated his National League Rookie of the Year win at Miller Park on Tuesday but spoke of "bigger and better things" to come.
His vision apparently includes being on the field for the ninth inning.

"It's embarrassing to be taken out of games for defensive purposes like that," said Braun, who several times was removed from games by manager Ned Yost when the Brewers had a late lead.

"I have to continue to get better," Braun said. "I certainly don't fault anybody for making those decisions. They have to do what's best for the team. I want to get to the point where they have a lot of confidence in me defensively. I have a lot of confidence in myself, so it's just a matter of time."

This was really a two horse race and anyone not having Braun or Tulo as their top 2 should lose their vote.

Well I was sort of surprised it was as close as it was...I thought Braun had little competition until I looked at Troy Tulowitzki's stats. You have to remember though Braun first began playing in May...Anyway congrats to Ryan Braun on a much deserved award.
