Lord, we stand here as a desperate people. Hungry for the things of you. Come quiet the storms that rage all around us so that we hear the passion that beats through your heart. Spirit put healing in our hands put life in our words and drive a passion for the lost deep in the hearts of your people. Inhabit the praises of us your childen and father send us out with a reckless passion, deliver us from evil and set a standard of unity to break down walls and to heal your people. Unity is the cry of your church Lord. Reconcile the children to the fathers and lets forgiveness and mercy rush through the hearts of our land. We cry out our deep need for you Jesus. Oh God come to power and bring glory to your name.

    Amen.

    Interesting question I received:

I believe you should be able to quietly live a religious life without trying to save everyone and disturbing their peace. Maybe in some peoples' minds that makes me a bad one, well so be it.

So, I don't know. Does not carrying a bible around and thumping it NOT make me a Christian?

No, but this divided lifestyle is exactly opposed in the teaching of the Bible. Jesus didn't quietly live a religious life, he spread his message around. I want to be more like Christ. As stated in Galatians 2:20: I have been crucified with Christ: and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!

    Read Matthew 5:13-14:

You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.

You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in Heaven.

God never says to be fully engaged on one day while fully disengaged in the secular community.

It is simply not enough to be a milque-toast Christian. Remember, God didn't speak only about love:

    Matthew 10:32-36:

Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also achnowledge him before my Father in heaven. But whoever disownes me before men, I will disown him before my Father in heaven.

Do no suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.

I agree with your assessment of Obama, but I've questioned how much influence any presidential candidate will have on abortion. Due to other questionable traits of Obama, I will be voting for McCain. Some believe McCain will be influential in ending legalized abortion through Supreme Court appointments. I pray this is true. Maybe this is one reason why we have Bush in office followed by McCain. Whatever failures Bush has had over the last eight years, he has been very successful on his appointments to the Court.

    The Infanticide Shibboleth

The Book of Judges has a curious story about a fight between the men of Gilead and the men of Ephraim. After the battle the fugitives of Ephraim attempted to cross the fords of the Jordan River but were stopped by warriors from Gilead and presented a challenge:

And when any of the fugitives of Ephraim said, "Let me go over," the men of Gilead said to him, "Are you an Ephraimite?" When he said, "No," they said to him, "Then say Shibboleth," and he said, "Sibboleth," for he could not pronounce it right.

Today, the term shibboleth is used to refer to a word or phrase that can be used to distinguish members of a group from outsiders. It can also be used to refer to customs, practices, or cultural touchstones that identify a person as being a member of a particular group.

For example, I have my own shibboleth that I used to identify members of the class, Civilized Human Beings. I call it the infanticide shibboleth. Opposing the blatant killing of human infants is admittedly a low bar of entry. But I figure you have to start somewhere.

Regrettably, the current Democratic nominee for President may not meet this minimal standard.

Of course most people--including Senator Obama--would say they oppose infanticide. This is why it would be necessary to present them with a test. For instance, I would ask them to read this description of the procedure known as "intact dilation and extraction", commonly referred to as "partial-birth abortion." I would also ask them if they thought that a baby that had survived a late-term abortion should be killed after it was outside the mother's womb.

After asking those questions I would gauge their reaction. If they recoiled in horror at the mere mentions of such actions I would warmly welcome them as fellow Civilized Human Beings. But how should I classify the moral prevaricators who would attempt to justify such atrocities? And what about a politician who voted in favor of protecting partial-birth abortion and voted against protecting born-alive infants?

Which brings us back to Sen. Obama. In 2002, as an Illinois legislator, Obama voted against the Induced Infant Liability Act, which would have protected babies that survived late-term abortions. The bill sought to protect babies who survived premature inducement for the purpose of abortion and would have given them the same rights as babies who were born prematurely and given live-saving medical attention. The bill was so commonsensical than even NARAL Pro-Choice America did not oppose its passage.

My friend Jill Stanek, a registered delivery-ward nurse who became the primary champion behind the legislation after she witnessed aborted babies' being born alive and left to die, testified twice before Obama in support of the Induced Infant Liability Act. She told reporter Amanda Carpenter that her testimony "did not faze" Obama.

Why I am a Christian: "Christ offers us something for nothing, he even offers everything for nothing. In a sense, the whole Christian life consists in accepting that very remarkable offer." -- C.S. Lewis.

God paid the ultimate price to save us. He sent his only son to the world where he died on the cross for all human sin. Jesus took on all of our sins and burdens so we can enter the gates of Heaven. Through divine mercy and justice, God gave us all a passport to Heaven.

To be with God, one must want to be with him. We must admit we are sinners and atone for them. We must thank this awesome God for giving us this gift of salvation and rejoice in the name of the Lord.

Just remember though, even if you reject God, God does not reject you. God does not send people to Hell, those who wish to close their hearts and minds from God will reluctantly by God, be granted their wish.

Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are the meek: for they shall possess the land. Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after justice: for they shall have their fill. Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the clean of heart: they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. Blessed are they that suffer persecution for justice's sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are ye when they shall revile you, and persecute you, and speak all that is evil against you, untruly, for my sake: Be glad and rejoice for your reward is very great in heaven. For so they persecuted the prophets that were before you.
