Wang extreme groundballness is the only thing that is keeping him from getting eaten alive by the American League. His absolutely pathetic K rates and mediocre control are gonna cause his ERA to raise by at least half a run next year, if not a full run. The wins might not drop that much, thanks to the Yanks awesome offense, but he's not going to be near as good as he was in 2006. Schilling on the other hand, despite being 40 is still a damn good pitcher. He still gets good K rates and while his control isn't unhuman like it used to be, it's still one of the best in baseball. I'd easily take Curt Schilling over Wang in 2007. And I'd take the Angels rotation over the Yanksox anyday. Oh and kinda OT, but I've watched a few of Igawa's starts this year in ST and haven't been impressed AT ALL.

Quoted for truth. Wang over Schilling? Not in the real world. Given a choice between the two, I'd pick Schilling for my starting staff, even at his current age, 10 out of 10 times. Oh, and yeah, our rotation pwns......too bad we didn't get that one extra big bat. |

Curt Schilling (2 WS titles) Josh Beckett (1 WS MVP) Daisuke Matsuzaka (what the heck is he even throwing?) Andy Pettitte (Proven Playoff Vet) Mike Mussina (Proven Vet) Ching-Ming Wang (Some success, not outstanding though) Kei Igawa (Good potential) Tim Wakefield (ummm yeah he's a knuckleballer) Jon Lester (Looked real good before cancer last year) Carl Pavano (Looked real good, what 3 years ago?, since then, nothing). based on post-season performances, the fact that in ST people dont even know what they are looking for against Daisuke, who had terrible control in yesterday's game, and gave up 0 hits, 0 runs. Not to mention since they are on the Sox and Yankees, that Varitek is a better game caller than Posada.

What does it really say about a rotation that someone who has not hardly
pitched in the last 2+ years will be their opening day starter. The Yankee starters are getting older...not necessarily better.. although Pettite brings a wealth of experience...Can Pavano hold up, can Wang do it with mirrors- he will probably get clubbed this year...last year batters hit .277 against him, and he gave up 233 hits in 216 innings. Karstens who has a shot at the #5 starters slot has a ssore elbow. The one bright spot is Phillip Hughes, he may yet make the team, but he is only 20 yrs old... do they really want to take a chance at this age? Once again the Yankees are formidable with a potent offense..but the pitching will ultimately let them down.
