STLtoday - Sports - Cardinals
St. Louis Post-Dispatch (scroll down): "Remarkably, Seattle's Mike Hargrove survived a last-place finish by his team last year. If the Mariners don't start quickly this season, even Jeff Weaver won't be able to save Hargrove. Others who might follow are Baltimore's Sam Perlozzo, whose team has spent considerable money in an effort to try to catch the Yankees, Boston and Toronto, and Philadelphia's Charlie Manuel. Manuel had one foot out the door last year before St. Louisan Ryan Howard and a pitching revival sparked a late second-half surge." SPRING TRAINING PREVIEW: KEN DAVIDOFF'S SPRING BREAK - Newsday.com Newsday (scroll down): "1. John Gibbons, Toronto... He received a mulligan from his bosses after getting physical with Ted Lilly and challenging Shea Hillenbrand to a fight. But despite the Blue Jays' second-place finish last year, he had best stay out of trouble and increase the victory count."

Joe Maddon may very well be on the hot seat in TB if the team continues lack-lusterly and certain young players prove they need to be reigned in due to attitude problems... Something Maddon may not be capable of doing with his nice-guy style

they probaly figured it doesn't hurt to try something new because the O's need to make a lot of big moves in order to be in contender with the Yankees, Red Soxs, and Blue jays

FUTURE IS NOW By GEORGE KING - Yankees - New York Post Online Edition
New York Post: "Should the Red Sox not make the playoffs for a second straight year, Terry Francona could pay for it. How good would the Red Sox feel with Torre in their dugout? ...Don't think for a minute the Angels wouldn't break the bank for A-Rod."
