How about these two, NOT on the list:

1. Marty Bergen, a catcher, suffered a severely broken hip in 1899, which apparently led doctors to break the news to him that his playing days were over. In January, 1900, Begen killed his wife and two children and then took his own life.

His brother, Bill Bergen, was a superb defensive catcher [1901-1911] AND probably the worst hitter ever to play regularly at a position other than pitcher.

2. Ken Hubbs won the Rookie of the year award at age 20 in 1962, setting two defensive records in that season. In February, 1962, short of his 22nd birthday, Hubbs and a friend were killed when his Cessna crashed as they were heading home after playing in a charity basketball game in Utah.

Here's one Len Koenecke. He was killed on an airplane flight by the flight crew because of an argument after being hit by a fire extinguisher in the head.

Full Obit

I knew that I had once come across a site that had a comprehensive record of player obituaries, causes of death, etc.; so I checked the 'Net and found it.

Baseball-reference.com has a link within its site. To go directly to the home page:

thedeadballera.com

will take you to the site home page.

It appears that they are making an effort to add new data, no matter how recent or far in the past the event occurred.
