The 2008 All Star Ballot is out
MLB.com's Review of the ballot Vote Here WPA Leaders by position C - Geovanny Soto 1B - Lance Berkman 2B - Chase Utley 3B - Aramis Ramirez SS - Miguel Tejada OF - Pat Burrell, Nate McLouth, Matt Holliday SP - Brandon Webb RP - Brad Lidge Last year the fans got it pretty darn right. If the first six weeks of the season are much of an indicator that won't likely happen this year.

Has there ever been a year where two secondbasemen in the same league are so highly qualified? Utley will win the vote because he is the better known player from the the Phillies being in the post season last year, but Uggla has a slightly higher OPS at the moment.
Ian Kinsler of the Rangers, has the highest AL OPS among second sackers as of this morning, .796. If he were in the NL, he would be in 7th place among secondbasemen. Dustin Pedroia, the leading AL vote getter, has the 10th highest OPS among all MLB secondbasemen. |
