So I'm discussing the comparison between Chone Figgins and Ichiro this evening with a fellow poster, but through IM. Chone at his peak is quite nearly as good as Ichiro.
So I start to think, why not both? One plays third and the other centerfield and are obviously the best high contact/babip, low walk, low power guys at those positions. Who else fits that mold? Could you build a team with that style of player? C - Jason Kendall 1B - Lyle Overbay 2B - Brian Roberts SS - Rafael Furcal 3B - Chone Figgins LF - Carl Crawford CF - Ichiro! RF - DH - Johnny Damon Util/10th -

I've added him, but I refuse to play him in the field.

Would Juan Pierre fit in the OF or Placido Polanco fit somewhere in the IF?
Shannon Stewart? Mark Loretta? Luis Castillo?

Grandstander, point taken. I will have to review the C
Jim, while Juan Pierre fits the mold, i would prefer players that have value.

I should not take Kendall away from you without offering a substitute. I think I have someone who fills the bill, how about Manny Sanguillen? He's a lifetime .296 hitter, hit just 12 homeruns in his best single season, and thought walks were for pansies, drawing only 223 in a career which featured 5062 at bats. |

While that would be a great choice, I am generally looking for active players.
What about Kurt Suzuki?
