I need to vent, and since no one reads this board anyway, what's the difference? I've been an Angel fan since 1961, well before the front runners who fill the Big A these days. And I've been embarrassed many times. The collapse of 1982, the choke in 1986, the fade in 1995, and many other less newsworthy humilations. This weekend ranks right up there among the worst. I have never seen a more gutless display of baseball. Clearly, the Angels are intimidated by the Red Sox. Thankfully, the pitching staff must be wearing Depends, otherwise we would be able to pinpiont the exact moment they wet themselves. How has this bunch of misfit lossers managed to win so many games? And what's the point? Any playoff contender will have to go through Boston and there is no way our girls can beat that team. Perhaps in the future, in addition to radar guns and stop watches, someone will come up with a way to measure intangibles like intestinal fortitude. Then, maybe, the Angels will draft and trade for players who can step up when the going gets tough. Until then, I guess I will just have to be prepared to endure more sorry displays like this weekend.
Sure, tomorrow someone on this team may prove me wrong and the Angels will win. History says otherwise. Final score on Sunday: Boston 10 Angels 2. The 2 will come on a meaningless homerun in the 9th inning by Grandpa Anderson. There. I feel better. |

Downing, are you feeling pressure from a team now just two back?
The division is likely going to come down to the 7 games left between our clubs.

How about a team that has lost 9 games in a row. They were also swept by their division leader. Seattle won't win the division, but may have a chance at the Wild Card. I'm sure looking forward to being at the game when the Angels clinch at home.
