Angel Stadium of Anaheim | 7:05 PM PT Chad Gaudin, RHP (0-0, -.--) Athletics (1-2) @ Joe Saunders, LHP (0-0, -.--) Angels (3-0) Scouting Report: Athletics: Gaudin, who was primarily a starter in the Minors but spent the bulk of last season in Oakland's bullpen, will get his 11th big-league start, taking what once was scheduled to be the turn of No. 4 starter Joe Blanton, who was officially moved into the No. 2 spot Sunday when the A's placed righty Esteban Loaiza on the 15-day DL with a strained right trapezius. He made two starts this spring, including a 66-pitch outing Saturday at AT&T Park against the Giants, and will be on an 80-pitch limit against the Halos. Angels: Recalled at midseason, Saunders took advantage of his opportunity last year to establish himself as a quality starter who throws strikes and keeps the ball in the park (six homers in 70 2/3 innings). He?ll stay in the rotation until both Jered Weaver and Bartolo Colon return, at which point he?ll likely be a long reliever and spot starter. |

I agree. We have to admit, the games between these two teams have been really fun to follow over the past couple of years. I would venture to guess that at least 50% of the games have been decided by 1 run. I thought Gaudin pitched well for you guys, while Saunders just looked nervous. Good game, wish it had a different outcome.
Good luck tonight. |
