Default 2007 Spring Training NRI

Quote:
The Angels officially added Shea Hillenbrand to the 40-man roster on Thursday, designating right-hander Chris Bootcheck to make room and extending invitations to 22 non-roster players to Spring Training

Ten right-handed pitchers are among the non-roster invitees: Nick Adenhart, Matt Hensley, Tommy Mendoza, Ryan Aldridge, Robert Mosebach, Casey Olenberger, Alex Serrano, Matt Wilhite, Nick Green and Marcus Gwyn.

The five infielders are Brandon Wood, Casey Smith, Mike Eylward, Sean Rodriguez and Hanley Statia. Brent Del Chiaro, Tim Duff, Brent Johnson and Flint Wipke are the four catchers while Curtis Pride heads a group of three outfielders that includes Aaron Peel and Nathan Haynes.

Any omissions that you guys expected to see or people that you didn't expect to be invited?

Curtis Pride is an old, over the hiller and takes away exposure ops from a younger player in spring training.

If the Angels are so enamored with him and want to keep him around, give him a coaching job. His playing days are over...it's realistic to say so.

I don't see how Pride is taking any playing time away from anyone. The OF is easily the one area where the Halos have nearly NO minor league prospects in.

It was interesting to see Nathan Haynes name again -- He's gone back to the A's and for a little while there I thought he had retired.
