Default Garetha "Grandpa" Anderson

This toad is by far the most useless, anti-clutch player every to play the game. Thank God we only have this season to endure his daily displays of wasted at-bats and meaningless hits. Did you catch his typical performance today? Comes up with two outs and nobody on in the eighth, his team down 4-0, and gets a single. That was his only hit today. Our number 4 hitter. One inning later, with two outs, the bases loaded, and his team down 4-2, he strikes out...looking...on a 3-2 pitch. He actually struck out on the pitch before on a check swing but was given a second chance and still choked. That was right after the Seattle broadcasters noted that his last walk off hit was in August. August of 2001! Well before Bill "Stonehead" Stoneman gave Grandpa a multi-year extension.

How long has this guy played? Is it 13 or 14 years? And I overstated his anti-clutch ability. He did get the big hit in game 7 of the 2002 World Series. One clutch hit in 14 years. So thanks for that, but now just go away. Get an eye infection, pull a hammy, trip and fall and break a leg, take your money and just go away.

Well at least this loser remains consistent. Comes up on Thursday with the bases loaded and nobody out in the seventh with a chance to blow the game open and...suprise...strikes out. All he had to do was rollover on a pitch (one of his specialties) and we score a run, or hit a fly ball. But no, Mr. Clutch he's not. Then he leads off the ninth and...surprise...gets a basehit. Here's a thought. If he is going to act like a banjo hitter, bat him ninth. Better still, release him and let someone who wants to play (Rivera, Willets) play.

Yeah Anderson is definitely over the hill. ARod is up there on the least clutch list too.

Well, Scioscia moved Grandpa down in the order on Saturday, but it didn't help. Comes up with two outs and the bases loaded in the 1st inning and strikes out looking. That is the second time in a week he has done that. And this is a guy who reguarly swings at balls out of the strike zone. In fact, he just may be the best example of Mickey Hatchers "take strikes, swing at crap" mantra.

He hit .285 -- 18 -- 85 last year.... hardly horrible.

Using your logic you would have traded for Livan Hernandez and his sparkling 3-0 start and sub 2.00 era two weeks ago....

What? All I'm saying is that year in, year out, Garrett Anderson has not performed in the clutch. Don't you find it astounding that a guy who has batted 3rd, 4th, or 5th for years has not had a walk off hit since August of 2001? How is that possible?

Ask yourself this question: Who do you want up with the game on the line. If you say Garrett Anderson, then I say you must be smoking some great bud.

Unless your name is David Ortiz i can't name a "clutch player" that comes through time after time....
