Default Angels land Hunter

They have a lot of OF'ers now:

CF Torii Hunter, age 32, signed a 5-year $90 million contract

RF: Vladimir Guerrero, age 31, 2008: $14.5 million, 2009: $15 million club option w/$3 million buyout, 2010: Free Agent

LF: Garrett Anderson, age 35, 2008: $12 million, 2009: $14 million club option w/$3 million buyout, 2010, Free Agent

Gary Matthews Jr., age 33, 2008: $9 million, 2009: $10 million, 2010: $11 million, 2011: $12 million, 2012: Free Agent

Juan Rivera
Reggie Willits

That Mathews contract looks pretty bad, considering he looks like a backup now. Still a solid player, but not worth that much money.

He probably is worth keeping though. Garrett Anderson is brittle, and after next year, I fully expect the Angles to buy him out getting his contract off the books.

Umm, Anderson will be the primary DH with Vlad getting some time there as well. The Matthews deal is bad because they paid a premium for his defense and now he's a corner OF - if he gets to play at all. He's got a little HGH in his background.
