The scout board has some interesting rumors on the Royals. Most are mere specultation. I floated an unsubstantiated guess that the Royals would complete a trade with SF and Florida. No facts, no inside info, just a wild hair guess.

I think Moore will want to make a splash. We have a lot of outfielders, including several top prospects. Guys like Elvys are probably on his doo doo list. I think he will make a play for Dontrelle Willis by offering a package of something like Emil Brown, Shane Costa and Billy Buckner. I also think Tim Hudson is a possibility.
We have a crowded outfield with Teahen joining DeJesus and Gathright. The 4th outfielder could be Esteban German or someone like Mitch Maier or Costa if he is not traded. None of our prospects hit right handed so German probably would have the edge. |

Hudson or Willis would be outstanding. It would be the Royals first legit ace since a young Kevin Appier. Though I'd think it'd cost quite a bit more for Willis especially since I have read a few rumored deals involving the Yankees and the Cubs.
I wonder when Willis is a free agent and the length of Hudson contract.

Ben Maller's fox sports Rumor Reports has Emil Brown mentioned in almost passing.
http://www.benmaller.com/#mlb_rumors_notes Posted December 04, by Ben Maller Digg this | Add to del.icio.us Discuss in the Forums | Link The Orioles discussed swapping Lopez for Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Kevin Mench earlier this offseason, but the deal is no longer on the table, according to a source familiar with the talks. There also have been talks with the Cubs about left-handed-hitting outfielder Jacque Jones, but no deal appears imminent as the Cubs are also looking at the Orioles' young pitching. Kansas City Royals outfielder Emil Brown, Detroit Tigers first baseman Chris Shelton and Seattle first baseman Ben Broussard are cheaper trade options.

I honestly don't expect much of a big splash in the free agent market. We are back to big market baseball it appears. I think Dayton will make some similar moves like he has already done. Then we need to hope a few of them really pan out like Perez, JDR, Shealy. Perhaps the Emil Brown for Lopez trade is the type of move I can see Dayton making.
I am really interested to find out about this Dotel situation. If healthy he could be quite an upgrade there for us. Also it would be ironic since he was the A's piece in the 3-way Beltran swap.

I've been reading the Royals offered Batista 3 years/24 mil. The Cards are also in the running. 8 per year for Batista? What the heck happened to the market this is flat out insane!

Royals have interest in Ryan Church
http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/a...2006&fext=.jsp The Royals reportedly have some interest in Nationals outfielder Ryan Church. There hasn't been much interest in either Reggie Sanders or Emil Brown to date, so it's hard to see how the Royals could make room for Church. They're also expected to move Mark Teahen to left field at some point to open up third base for top prospect Alex Gordon. |
