Default Billy Butler

Too soon for him to be a permanant DH?
I know his defense is shoddy at best but seems way too young to be put into that niche at this point in his career.

If Carlos Lee and Manny can play defense... well you can fill in the blanks from there

Default Not Yet.

Not in my opinion, anyway. He's supposedly going to play first base in winter ball, and will hopefully show enough promise for the Royals to use him there in 2008. He and Gordon at the corners, with the ML experience they now have, would probably go a long ways towards solving our power problems. A Mark Teahen revival and a better hitting shortstop would help out as well.

If we HAVE to DH Butler, fine. It worked for Hal McRae. It worked for Frank Thomas. It worked for Edgar Martinez. If that's where he's best used, fine, but I personally hope he puts it together well enough to keep the DH spot open.

It's first base for cryin' out loud, not shortstop or centerfield. Does he have to be THAT good defensively?
