1. Alex Gordon
2. Luke Hochevar 3. Billy Butler 4. Chris Lubanski 5. Tyler Lumsden 6. Erik Cordier 7. Mitch Maier 8. Justin Huber 9. Billy Buckner 10. Brent Fisher Everyone but the Royals see Huber as a prospect. Cordier and Fisher are rated higher than I would have suspected. Last edited by 85royal; 11-27-2006 at 10:24 PM. Reason: Updated info. |

With what the Royals have in the way of OF'ers, I just don't know that he has a place. I see him more as trade bait to land a higher quality pitching prospect. Maier is a good defensive player and his surprisingly a fairly successful base stealer (or at least he has been at the minor league level). He had a strong AFL, so his stock is probably pretty high right now. The Royals have Gathright, DeJesus, Butler, Huber, Lubanski, Costa, and Teahen as young, soon to be ready if not ready now, outfielders. Lubanski is younger and had arguably a better season than did Maier at the same level (Lubanski is 21 and Maier is 24). The future of the Royals outfield is probably Lubanski in LF, DeJesus in CF, and Butler in RF. Then we could also have Huber/Costa getting some AB's as DH and OF.
