The Pena Trade

There is a lot of frustration on other boards about the Cordier for Pena Trade. To me its a non issue. We upgraded a position of need for an injured minor league prospect who is three years away at least from the bigs. Pena likely isn't our long term answer at short, but Cordier is not in the picture for a long time either.

I agree. I know a lot of people on the "other" board are having a heart attack about the loss of a 21 year old A-baller coming back from a MAJOR arm surgery, and it mystifies me. If it gives us a shortstop that can at least play defense, then I'm all for it.

In 85 we won with a good field no hit shortstop. He saved a lot of hits. I'm not sure Pena is a Biancalana, but if he helps this pitching staff it will be a plus.
