The Royals have reportedly signed Hideo Nomo to a minor league deal, and are pursuing former Cy Young winner Bartolo Colon as well.
I'd be happy to have Colon around, as I think he could be a very effective middle of the rotation guy if he's healthy. Nomo...not so much. I think DM is basically just throwing the dice with him, and I don't personally expect to ever see him actually play for the Royals.

I wouldn't expect to see it either, but pitching depth never hurt anyone, right? We are still looking for a starting pitcher, so that would seemingly make Nomo's chances of making the team as a starter about zero. However, he's 39 years old and has a semi deceptive delivery, so he could be useful in short stints. Of course it all depends on how he pitches (and who gets hurt during spring training), but I'd think his best chance to pitch for the Royals this season is out of the pen. However, it would be nearly a miracle for him to pitch for them at all.
