I may just be posting this to myself, but maybe someone will check in a few days from now when this is old news. The Royals signed Miguel Olivo yesterday. Olivo is a career .239 hitter, and he averages a HR every 29 ABs. This isn't something that a lot of teams are even trying to do, but as Dayton mentioned yesterday, this gives the Royals one of the most powerful catching duos in the league. He hit .304 with SD in '05, but that was in only 115 ABs.
This signing either means bad news for Matt Tupman or that Dayton is planning on moving John Buck to acquire some pitching that he's missed out on with the Free Agents. |

That's pretty much my feeling about it. Now we've got two catchers that will hit .235 with 10-15 HR. Yea! Honestly though, I was going to be excited about whoever the backup catcher was going to be because it wasn't going to be LaRue. I'm still amazed that a major league ball player played the whole season and failed to hit .150. Amazing...in a bad way, that is.
